Peter Cole

Originally from Massachusetts, Peter Cole graduated from Tabor Academy, which at the time, was also an all-boys boarding prep school. He did his BA at the University of Vermont and went to Europe to play professional basketball shortly after graduation.

After playing nine seasons of pro basketball, Peter successfully completed his Master’s Degree in Applied Linguistics and English Language Teaching at the University of Surrey, UK. Peter is an experienced educator having taught English as a Second Language (ESL) and/or Business English for many years in Hungary, England, Germany, and Japan at the high school, tertiary, in-company, and adult education levels.

When Peter was teaching at a university in Germany in 2007, he started a non-profit charity organization together with an entrepreneurial-minded student from Uganda, Moses Albert Kiize. From this friendship, a series of pilot projects were launched over several years throughout Uganda. They raised money for school fees, built a school and several small affordable homes, and established clean water filtration stations. More recently, Peter et. al., have invested in digital farming to grow, harvest, and maintain sustainable coffee and honey production on a completely organic coffee plantation, and they have been supporting African families by funding small business start-ups available exclusively to African women. Since 2007, these start-ups and initiatives have brought over 2,100 families out of poverty. Moveover, there has been so much interest in their pilot projects that in 2021, Peter founded GoSmile Africa Inc. USA to raise funds to expand these projects and strive for even greater sustainable projects throughout Africa.
